Zade mentioned attempts to contact the building owner, who was reportedly uncooperative. With a hotel also being built nearby, Zade fears the problem will intensify and proposes implementing permitted parking on 153rd Street as a solution.
Interim Finance Director Introduced; HR Director Search and Hawthorne Blvd Repaving Underway
The City Manager introduced Jeannie Fortune as the interim contract finance director. Fortune, who has prior experience in various cities including Los Angeles and San Bernardino, expressed her intention to maintain financial operations during her tenure. She noted that she is in her third week with the city and has found the community welcoming. The City Manager also updated the council on the ongoing process for RFPs for a temporary Human Resources Director to assist with future hiring and announced that Public Works is preparing for design services for Hawthorne Boulevard repaving, with funding secured for initial design work and grant applications planned for completion.
