US 30 Sidewalks Complete, Pedestrian Signals Pending; Hart Street Water Main Work to Cause One-Week Closure

The Public Works department is nearing completion of the US 30 project. The sidewalk is installed, and the department is awaiting Midwest Electric to install pedestrian signalization next week. Final touches include crosswalk paint. Additionally, Hart Street will be closed for one week starting Monday for water main installation near Deer Trail, with detour signs in place.

Road Project Updates: John Birge Lane Routing Selected, CCMG Projects On Schedule, Plum Creek Parking Lot Bids Advertised

The John Birge Lane routing has been selected, and work is underway with Adam on title searches for property acquisition and easements. Construction is planned for 2027. The CCMG 2026 projects are on schedule, with about 40% completion in various stages of removal, concrete work, and paving. For CCMG 2027, staff will present options for resurfacing and/or reconstruction, with applications due September 1st. The Plum Creek Center parking lot plans are complete, and bid packages will be advertised, with award recommendations at the August meeting.

Town Council Unanimously Approves Amended Fishing Ordinance

The Town Council voted on Ordinance 2026-08, which amends the town's fishing ordinance. The ordinance was motioned for approval, seconded, and passed unanimously with all council members voting 'Aye'. The council then voted to suspend the rules and pass the ordinance on second reading, which also passed unanimously.

The Police Department reported 747 incidents in June, resulting in 42 arrests, 22 accidents, 210 citations, and 334 warnings. They also conducted 464 traffic stops. A new officer will be sworn in on Monday, July 20th.
